Re: Hybrid Build Assist / Home Build???

Oh no problem... and yeah - if I knew the timing that would have definitely made a HUGE difference (or maybe I missed it). Without many hands working on the build getting there in that time frame is dang near impossible. I did meet a couple of builders at Osh this past year that built their Sling Ts...

Re: Hybrid Build Assist / Home Build???

I totally get and appreciate the space being a problem issue. For me that concept kinda flew out the window with the guy in the UK who built the plane parts in a garden shed in his backyard... This wasn't a huge garden shed even - it was a standard garden shed that was long enough to work on a wing ...

Re: Hybrid Build Assist / Home Build???

I'm not sure how much value you'd get out of going that route. Are you using build assist because you don't have the space or tools to accomplish the build or because you aren't sure of your ability to properly complete the build? From my perspective the build is overall pretty straightforward and i...

Re: Tools to build

Midwest should have ample tools on site. I once spoke with Henry and he had 8 Slings under construction at that moment. There's no way they were only working with one set of tools. :) Plus, you're paying for his service. I'd be surprised if that wasn't part of the operation. Definitely something to ...

Re: Sling Pitch Trim & GFC 500 Auto Pilot

There is a pitch trim motor that is included with the kit when you build the empennage. If you look at the Empennage installation manual and search for "Trim Motor with Clevis Kit" on sheet 17 in the current build manuals it has it on the diagram. The rest of it is up to the wiring. If you...

Re: VOR Coax cable length

My VOR had the cable hard wired into the antenna if I remember correctly. You just need the cable long enough to get to the end of the vertical stabilizer with a BNC connector on it. You'll be attaching the vertical stabilizer long after the rear fuselage is done, so you'll have a cable to connect t...

Re: Seeking Feedback on Oxygen System Options

A couple of months ago, we have a discussion, and talk by our EAA chapter tech advisor, about Oxygen systems. He had a simple but very workable, and cost effective solution, much less expensive than those listed about. Not that there is anything wrong with above. Simply acquire or buy either a D ta...

Re: Fuel Sender Options

Not sure how I missed this one - sorry for the delay in the response.

The Tsi does not have a header tank. As for the dihedral on the HW - I'm not sure how much difference there is, but the Tsi definitely doesn't start reading anything other than full until about the 16/18 gallon mark...

Re: Wing Skin Rivet Holes

As long as the holes are lining up to get a cleco in and it's just a matter of the rivets not going in, when you're using the 3.2/3.5mm drill bit, it should feel like it's passing through without resistance, but it actually is doing something. When I was building I would keep a drill bit handy when ...
