Hey there Sling High Wing enthusiasts.
I’ve got a tail dragger quick build kit coming sometime this summer with the build happening in the Minneapolis area.
I have noticed that JP’s airplane has Vortex Generators on the wings and am wondering if there is any data on their effect to performance on the Sling High Wing. I know what VGs are supposed to do, but I also know there are cases where they don’t provide much benefit.
If anyone has any input on this subject or experience with a High Wing/TSI using VGs please share.
Thanks,
Vortex Generators?
Re: Vortex Generators?
I heard JP talk about them once and he said they were so effective in increasing the stall angle of attack that when the plane finally did stall it had some nasty wing-drop characteristics.
What he did not discuss was the technical details such as what brand of VGs they were, what location along the wing he chose and why.
I talked with the folks at MicroAero (located in Anacortes here in the PNW) in February and when I mentioned Sling they had no idea what I was talking about, so you're gonna probably be on your own when it comes to figuring out the placement.

Re: Vortex Generators?
This is helpful, maybe we will gain more knowledge as more aircraft hit the skies.
Thanks
